N"CAL-PEP: THE FIRST PEER-RUN SEX WORKER OUTREACH PROJECT"

CAL-PEP by Carol Leigh, 6 minutes, US 1989
This short documentary portrays one of the first peer run outreach organizations led by Gloria Lockett in Oakland, founded by COOYOTE in the mid eighties. This project has been a model for sex worker projects around the globe and is a precursor to contemporary harm reduction projects. This video portrays a site visit at a local hotel in conjunction with San Francisco's Project Aware, providing mdical services to women. Note that early outreach promoted use of non-oxynol-9 which is counterindicated. Visit http://www.calpep.org/
